Today was my mom’s 47th birthday. Although I have the photos I took today saved in a folder called “Mommy’s 23rd Birthday.” We didn’t do much special since she hates birthdays, apparently, and she doesn’t like spending money. So we had lunch at a cheap buffet and then we ate the cake that my sister and I made her!
It looks a little gross in that picture, but it was chockful of love so it tasted great.

I agree with Kat - it doesn’t look gross! It looks delicious. And now I have a craving for some ganache, of course.
Happy Birthday to your mom! My mom doesn’t enjoy her birthdays either - she’s not too keen on getting older.

That looks really good.
In my house, we deal with people not liking their age by just not putting it on the cake. Myself, however, I always want my age on the cake. Makes it easier when going through photos to remember what year it’s from.

Hey sweetie….
Sorry I haven’t been around lately. Back to school for me AND the kids has been hectic. How are you? How is school going?
Your MOM is 47? Yikes! That’s only 3 years older than I am!
I love the cake you made her. What a sweet girl!
Hope all is well,
J.

[...] Anyhow, it was my sister’s little little sister’s birthday today. Last year, I shook her awake at midnight and was all “HAPPY 12TH BIRTHDAY!!!” and she was all like “Doode, I’m 14.” But this year I remembered how old she was. We celebrated by buying her a lovely cheesecake, which looked a helluva lot better than the one she and I made our mom for her 47th birthday. [...]
