Although the train to NYC was over an hour delayed and we had to wait at Penn Station until 12:42am because my dad had the only set of keys for the car, my trip to NYC was a lot of fun! Spamalot is crazily hilarious; I’ve come to realize that I really enjoy a bit of dry British humor.. It was a bit weird to hear Reverend Camden of 7th Heaven saying bastard, though. I definitely recommend Spamalot to anyone who’s thinking of seeing it, although I would probably suggest Mammia Mia before it because Mamma Mia is just amazing!
Another mishap that happened was my mother telling me that I looked like a hooker. I’m not sure that means much because my mother thinks that anything red is the mark of a hooker and any sort of tights or footwear other than opaque black tights or sneakers are symbolic of prostitution, but it is a little upsetting. I suppose I understand her reaction, because I was wearing vertically striped tights and all. She acted as though we were 16th century Puritans and I was screaming God’s name in vain while cavorting with several infidels.. on a Sunday.

I wore it with the scarf in the second picture, because I kinda liked how the horizontal/vertical stripes looked together, but I’m kinda liking the way the red pops. I’ve been feeling a lot of black lately.
Dress (As shirt): American Apparel
Skirt: Forever 21
Tights: Sock Dreams. These are actually thigh highs, but since my legs have a combined length of a foot, they go all the way up to my crotch. They could go farther, if my legs were longer.
Red Scarf: Grandmother’s
Striped Scarf: No idea

Whatever to your mom. Those tights look really good on you.

You do NOT look like a hooker, but mother’s are too sweet, I don’t think they like to see their daughters grow up. Genius outfit.

Hah, my dad would just call me a whore and get it over with.
Anyways, those tights look awesome. I recently got a pair that only go up the mid-thigh and have little bows on the side. I love them. Father dear hasn’t seen them yet (or else I wouldn’t be breathing still).

Very Tim Burton-esque!

Wow! Tights are nice! They make your outfit looks very oryginal. And I like your cute striped scarf:)

My dad hates the color red, too, it’s very Mary Magdalene lol. I cant wait to show him my red tights
I love your thigh highs!

That outfit is so chique. I love it! Very fab. Sometimes parents just don’t get it. It’s not your mom’s fault tho… it’s that damn generation gap. hehe so fab!

You do not look like a hooker! =P I love the outfit. Very cute indeed!

So cute! The 2nd outfit with those awesome tights and the striped scarf is great!
August 18th, 2008 at 4:14 pm
Haha, hilarious! I get all kinds of comments from my mom, too old looking with all the grey and cardigan, to devilish with the black and to childish with the shorts and bright socks… and so on. At least she cares, hah!
Powerful outfit, love the black!

I’ve been dying to see Spamalot forever (cath and I are big brit-humor fans).
And you definitely just look super-gorgeous… very Parisian (not hooker). Loooove those tights!
August 18th, 2008 at 10:13 pm
I never get any grief from my mom, mostly because I know what she likes, and what she doesn’t. I’d never wear those tights though, just because vertical stripes would make my legs look giant.

It’s sooo Wednesday Adams I love it! Without being inappropriate.. I’m jealous of your upper endowment

You look like the star of a French new wave film! Cute and feminine but just a little sassy.
And I’m glad you had fun in NY!

Sorry but your mum was wrong. Especially when you wore the tights with the second scarf. There is something so classy about that outfit I am completely in love with it! Go girl!

I disagree with your mother, I think you look amazing and sophisticated. I love this on you, especially the tights with the skirt. But I find it funny that you added the red scarf to the tights, almost deliberately against your mother, haha. Apparently your grandmother doesn’t feel the same way about red though, seeing that it was her scarf.

When I was younger and in highschool, my mom called me a “chicken” in Chinese.. which basically means prostitute whenever I wore tank tops and shorts… basically anything that doesn’t cover up. =S
And your outfit looks hot!! Not hookerish at all!

August 26th, 2008 at 1:16 am
wow! send me those tights!! theyre so awesome!!
August 26th, 2008 at 6:36 pm
Aw I don’t think you look like a hooker at all! And that’s cuz I’ve actually seen hookers! They’re everything you can imagine them to be, 50 pounds of makeup and all.
Mamma Mia was fabulous! I can’t say the same about the movie, however, as I have yet to see it
But I’m glad to hear you had a wonderful time despite your mom’s comment.
